Level Transmitter/Liquid Level Sensor

A liquid level transmitter is a type of sensor that measures the level of liquid in a container or tank. It works on the principle that the pressure exerted by a liquid at a certain depth is proportional to the height of the liquid column above it, as well as the density of the liquid. The transmitter converts the pressure measurement into a corresponding electrical signal, which can be used to calculate the level of the liquid.

Liquid-level transmitters are commonly used in industries such as oil and gas, chemical processing, and water treatment. They can be used to measure the level of liquids such as water, oil, and paste with high accuracy, and can also provide information about the volume and weight of the liquid.

Liquid-level sensor type

Those are some common types of liquid-level sensors. Here’s a brief overview of each type:

Input Type: Also known as a capacitance type, this sensor measures the change in capacitance between two plates caused by the presence of a liquid.

Straight Rod Type: This sensor consists of a straight rod that is inserted into the liquid and measures the level based on the electrical properties of the liquid.

Flange Type: This sensor is mounted on the side of a tank and measures the level of the liquid by detecting the pressure exerted by the liquid on the flange.

Threaded Type: This sensor is screwed into a tank and measures the level of the liquid using a float and a magnet.

Inductive Type: This sensor uses an inductive coil to detect the presence of a metal float, which is attached to a measuring tape.

Screw-in Type: This sensor is screwed into a tank and uses a float to measure the level of the liquid.

Floating Ball Structure Design: This sensor uses a floating ball to measure the level of the liquid.

Anti-blocking Type Design: This sensor is designed to prevent blockages caused by sediment or other debris.

Submersible Liquid Level Transmitter: This type of sensor is submerged in the liquid and measures the pressure exerted by the liquid using a piezoresistive pressure sensor.

Each type of sensor has its own unique advantages and disadvantages, and the choice of the sensor will depend on the specific application and requirements.

Working principle of the liquid level sensor

Liquid level sensor works based on the principle of hydrostatic pressure. The sensor consists of a diaphragm and a pressure sensor, separated by a fluid-filled chamber. The diaphragm is in contact with the liquid whose level is being measured, while the pressure sensor measures the pressure exerted by the liquid on the diaphragm.

As the level of the liquid changes, the pressure exerted on the diaphragm changes as well, causing a corresponding change in the pressure measured by the pressure sensor. This change in pressure is converted into an electrical signal, which can be used to indicate the level of the liquid.

The accuracy and sensitivity of the liquid level sensor depend on various factors such as the quality of the diaphragm and pressure sensor, the type of filling liquid used in the chamber, and the design of the sensor.
